B. Tech :- Bachelor of Technology

As part of your Bachelor of Technology (B.Tech) program, you must undertake an 8-week research  project in your chosen elective (specialization). This project provides an opportunity to apply your  academic learning in an industry or technical environment. Below is a structured guide to  successfully completing your project.

1. Selection of Research Topic

  • Your research should be based on your specialization and can focus on:
  • Possible Research Areas (Based on Specializations)

  • Computer Science & Engineering (CSE) / IT

  • Artificial Intelligence & Machine Learning: Deep learning in medical imaging, AI-driven fraud  detection.
  • Cybersecurity: Ransomware detection using AI, cryptographic algorithms.
  • Blockchain & Cloud Computing: Secure data storage, blockchain in supply chain management.
  • Software Development: Microservices architecture, DevOps pipeline optimization.
  • Mechanical Engineering (ME)

  • Automation & Robotics: Industrial robotics in manufacturing, AI in CNC machining.
  • Thermodynamics & Renewable Energy: Solar thermal energy efficiency, hydrogen fuel cells.
  • 3D Printing & Advanced Materials: Applications of 3D-printed metals, nanotechnology in  engineering.
  • Electrical & Electronics Engineering (EEE/ECE)

  • IoT & Embedded Systems: Smart grids, IoT-based home automation.

  • VLSI & Chip Design: Low-power CMOS circuits, FPGA-based system design.

  • Renewable Energy: Solar PV efficiency, power electronics for electric vehicles.

  • Civil Engineering (CE)

  •  Structural Engineering: Earthquake-resistant buildings, advanced concrete materials.

  • Smart Cities & GIS: IoT in traffic management, digital twin for urban planning.

  • Environmental Engineering: Wastewater treatment, sustainable construction materials.

    Your research can be:

  •  Organization-Based: Case study on Tesla’s battery technology.

  •  Industry-Based: Application of AI in predictive maintenance of mechanical systems.

2. Research Methodology

  • Your project can include

  • Primary Data: Prototyping, simulations, lab testing, real-world experiments, surveys.

  • Secondary Data: Research papers, patents, technical reports, industry whitepapers.

  • Tools & Technologies: MATLAB, Python, SolidWorks, AutoCAD, TensorFlow, Arduino, Raspberry  Pi.

3. Project Timeline (8 Weeks Plan)

Week

1-2

3-4

5-6

Task

Conduct a literature review & finalize the research problem.

Develop methodology & collect data (experiments, simulations, coding).

Analyze results, optimize systems, interpret findings.

Document findings, discussion & recommendations.

Finalize the research report & submit it on ERP.

4. Report Submission Guidelines

  • Follow the prescribed ERP format, generally structured as:

    1. Title Page – Project title, student details, mentor details.
    2. Abstract – A summary of your research (150-250 words).
    3. Introduction – Background, objectives, problem statement.
    4. Literature Review – Summary of existing research and best practices.
    5. Research Methodology – Tools, software, experimental setup, frameworks used.
    6. Implementation & Analysis – Code snippets, simulation results, graphs, performance metrics.
    7.  Conclusion & Future Scope – Key insights, potential improvements, industry applications.
    8. References – APA/Harvard style citations.

       9. Appendices (if applicable) – Circuit diagrams, code documentation, screenshots, datasets.

5. Research Paper/Case Study Publication

  • Collaborate with a faculty mentor to convert your research into a published paper.

  • Submit to engineering journals, conferences, or industry blogs (IEEE, Elsevier, Springer, ASME,  etc.).

  • Follow proper academic formatting and technical depth to enhance publication chances.
